London Dungeon Maze Attractions Not to Miss with Older Kids

London Dungeon Maze

Why visit the London Dungeon Maze?  Because if you have older kids in your family, they will love it.

The London Dungeon is one of the most terrifying yet popular London attractions. You slip into a world of storytelling and dramatic special effects that explores the darker side of London’s history. As you walk through the experience, you will hear stories about Jack the Ripper and other characters from the past while fully immersed in the action along with talented actors and storytellers.

You may want to remind yourself that this is all theatre to keep from wetting your pants, but this is not your ordinary theatrical production. You and your family members become an active part of the storyline. You get to feel, hear, see, and smell what London was like for some seedy characters in the past.

That’s why the London Dungeon experience is often reserved for older kids. Some of the more entertaining attractions within the dungeon are the mazes. Keep reading to learn about two of the most exciting mazes within the dungeon.

Whitechapel Labyrinth

The Whitechapel Labyrinth is the only true maze attraction within the dungeon. The setting is London in 1888. A storm is moving in, and Jack the Ripper is on the prowl. His latest victim was just discovered, and you need to flee the scene in order to spare your own life. Put that hand over your neck and make your way through an elaborate maze that will hopefully lead you and your loved ones to safety.

The Labyrinth is a London dungeon maze set up to reflect the dark, wet streets of London in the heyday of Jack the Ripper. You may feel like there is no way out and even start questioning your sense of direction as you race to get out of the chaotic streets with a serial killer on the loose.

On a scale of 1 to 5, the Whitechapel Labyrinth is rated a scare factor of 4. While your heart still has a pounding good time to come at the end of the experience, this is the highlight of the production for those seeking a good thrill.

Escape from Newgate Prison

Head into the Gallows as they existed in 1736. This is where some of the most notorious prisoners of London’s past were kept behind lock and key, and they’re waiting for your visit. They don’t speak, but their eyes will tell their story as they stare into you.

While there is no elaborate London dungeon maze like in the Whitechapel Labyrinth, you will experience the same desperation to escape and find your way out as you realize the danger presented by the silent prisoners.

The Newgate Prison escape attraction is more of a deranged show than a maze, but it’s likely to keep you scrambling for the exit when it’s time to find your way out. That makes it one of the favorite attractions for many older kids and teens stepping into the London Dungeon madhouse.

Escape Execution

This is London Dungeon’s escape room experience. It comes at an extra charge and is not included in the standard or multi-attraction ticket price. You’re locked in a room and have one hour to find your way out before the executioner has his way with you.

While it’s not exactly a maze, the escape room does send you around in circles in attempt to solve puzzles and get out of danger. Will you make it out in time, or will fate catch up to you?

Are There Age Restrictions for London Dungeon Maze Attractions?

There is no age restriction enforced at London Dungeon, but the venue does recommend a minimum age of 12. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to determine the suitability of the experience for younger children before booking tickets. In general, it’s a popular scary London attraction for pre-teens, teens, young adults, and adults.
